VOX 3 Collective has received a 2009 Community Arts Assistance Program grant. This year, 217 proposed projects from Chicago artists were funded; 185 of these were individuals and 32 were organizations. VOX 3 is honored and pleased to be in such illustrious company. This grant will be applied toward the recording of an “Art Song Primer,” that is, a compendium of song taken from the first three years of VOX 3 programs, and supplemented by other important works in the canon. Collective members will rehearse and record this material in the summer of 2009, for a targeted disc release in 2010. VOX 3 Music Director James Morehead will lead the musical preparation. The Community Arts Assistance Program (CAAP) was created in 1987 through funding provided by the Illinois Arts Council Access Program. The goals of CAAP are to discover, nurture and expand Chicago’s multi-ethnic artists and nonprofit arts organizations; and to foster new and emerging individual artists and arts groups by providing grants for professional, artistic, and organizational development to those who have had limited access to funding in both public and private grants programs.
