VOX 3 seeks to provide a diverse training ground for its performers in the operatic genre. At VOX 3, rarely seen or heard operas find a voice. Much like Chicago’s vibrant storefront theatre scene, our forays into opera are conceived intimately, invested with serious dramaturgy, and charged with energy.
Our programs range from outdoor evenings of scenes to staged “jukebox operas” with original narratives constructed from song repertoire to lecture-recitals and readings of pieces which otherwise would be difficult to produce. Effort is made to include operas from different eras and countries, from the Italian baroque to German Spieloper to modern American works. VOX 3 seeks to provide you with a true experience of opera in equal portions of music and drama.
