Jessie Lyons, a lyric soprano and native of Iowa, recently received her Master’s degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts.  As a participant in the Taos Opera Institute in New Mexico, she delved into several arias and performed the Love Duet from Madama Butterfly in the Gala Scenes Program.  Throughout her education, Jessie has repeatedly returned to the La Musica Lirica Opera program, which has provided her with many important opportunities to learn and perform roles such as Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème and La Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, in addition to Donna Elvira in scenes from Don Giovanni.  Jessie finished her undergraduate degree at Luther College in 2007, where she sang such roles as Alice Ford in Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor and Lady Billows in Britten’s Albert Herring.  This summer, Jessie joined the Manhattan School of Music Summer Festival for six weeks of intense performance and studied with Neil Rosenshein in New York City.  There, she played Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème for a second time.  She will make her VOX 3 Collective in fall 2011 in a recital of modern American art song, performing Carson Cooman’s new song cycle Gold into Diamonds.  She will also be covering the roles of Nanna and The Statue in a staged production of Stranger Here Myself, which comprises the songs of Kurt Weill.
