Beena David is an zaftig, effervescent, Indian mezzo-soprano who is a proud native of Chicago, Illinois. Musically speaking, she has been featured as the mezzo-soprano soloist for the 2009 Harper Festival Spring Concert, and has been thrilled to be an active member of Chicago's classical music scene. Present and past affiliations include the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Grant Park Music Festival, the Lira Ensemble, VOX 3 Collective, and various local opera productions. In the summer of 2004, she was a Young Artist with La Musica Lirica in Italy, and sang as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Dvorák's Mass in D Major with the Coro Filarmonico di Pesaro. It's not all hard-core classical though! You can also find Beena performing various sporting events, having sung the national anthem for the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Rush, and Chicago Fire. Other dabblings include various on-camera appearances, copywriting, training in improv comedy, Bhangra* student and enthusiast, make-up artistry, general church-lady tendencies, and volunteering for the Lincoln Park Community Shelter.
