Soprano Magaly Cordero is an active performer in the Chicagoland area. A native of Orlando, Florida, Magaly received her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and her Master’s degree from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. Magaly has sung the role of Princess Zara in The Savoyaire's production of Utopia Limited as well as La Reina in Chicago Chamber Opera's Maria La O. As a young artist with the Cedar Rapids Opera Theatre she covered the role of the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute and was featured as Rapunzel in Sondheim's Into The Woods. Other performance highlights include La Musica in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, Feu/Princesse/Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges, and Papagena in The Magic Flute. Magaly has sung with Chicago's South Shore Opera Company, Evanston's Light Opera Works and Wisconsin's Music By the Lake festival. This fall she will be performing the role of Frou-Frou in Sinfonietta Bel Canto's production of Franz Lehár's Die lustige Witwe. Magaly is also an active recitalist and church musician. She is a performing member of VOX 3 Collective, a Chicago-area group of musicians who provide thought-provoking concerts of art song and opera. In addition, she sings with Milwaukee's MacDowell Club. Magaly is also a professional cantor at various Catholic parishes in Chicago and its suburbs. Magaly currently studies with Sunny Joy Langton.
