Chicago Artists Month Performance
VOX 3 Collective, Inc. NFP has been chosen as a participating organization for the opening weekend of Chicago Artists Month.
Chicago Artists Month officially opens with “EdgeUP,” an arts festival curated by Tricia Van Eck celebrating the Edgewater and Uptown neighborhoods as successful examples of “the melting pot” in which a diverse population lives and works together. The inaugural event, opening on Friday, September 27, 6-10 p.m., is The American Dream: The (W)holy Grail, a multimedia art exhibition housed in FLATtheatre, a former bank building at 1050 W. Wilson and featuring paintings, photographs and performances interpreting the American Dream. Participants include CAM featured artists Jason Reblando and Deborah Boardman. “EdgeUP” encompasses more than 30 activities over the weekend including artist Pate Conaway’s Knit-ins to construct One Long Scarf connecting Edgewater and Uptown. Knit-ins are scheduled 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 at various Chicago Park District field houses. The Edgewater Fall Art Fair will run Saturday and Sunday along Granville Avenue near the Red Line “L.”
VOX 3 Collective’s contribution is part of a series of events involving pianos placed in public spaces throughout the neighborhood. Performers Ashlee Hardgrave and Brian von Rueden, accompanied by pianist Teresa Kang, present a number of new art songs written by Chicago composers. The company is particularly pleased to be part of the festivities surrounding the Edgewater and Uptown neighborhoods, which the company has called home since it began in 2007. Several pieces featured on the company’s New Song album will be performed on Saturday, September 28 at 2:00pm in the beautiful former TCF Bank space at 1050 W. Wilson, in the Uptown neighborhood. Hear both gorgeous melodies and driving rhythms, in a wonderful harvest of locally grown tunes, performed in a gem of a venue!
