A live entertainment consisting of dancing, singing, or comedy acts, usually performed in the evening in restaurants or nightclubs.
VOX 3 debuts two new cabarets per year, each exploring a central theme, with a cast comfortable in a number of artistic genres. Every show incorporates music from a blend of traditions: classical, pop, music theatre, jazz, and folk. These styles are spun together with comedic sketches, monologues, audience participation bits, and performed with panache in one of Chicago’s many wonderful restaurants and bars.
Past cabarets have served up love, lust, and hatred for Valentine’s Day; explored the connection between music and medicine; tripped the high life of celebrity; sampled the seven deadly sins; and tasted a musical menu of food. Previous venues have included Wrigleyville’s Nisei Lounge, Boystown’s The North End, Uptown’s The Spot, and Uncommon Ground in Rogers Park.
