A native to the Chicago suburbs, baritone Joshua Poucher has steadily made a name for himself as a rising artist in the Chicago area. Lauded for his emotional intensity and relation to others on stage, he has found a home singing with growing artistic pursuits, notably appearing in two inaugural productions as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro (New Moon Opera) and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte (The Floating Opera Company). In addition, Joshua enjoys singing a wide gambit of repertoire, including pieces such as Verdi’s La Traviata (daCorneto Opera), Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream (Chicago Summer Opera), and Nielsen’s Maskarade (VOX 3 Collective). Outside of opera, he finds great pleasure in chamber music. Most memorable of these collaborations include Prokofiev’s Peter & the Wolf and Stravinsky’s Histoire du Soldat. Joshua has pursued his love of British and Finnish art song through several VOX 3 recital performances.
