Baritone Ian Hosack originally hails from North Palm Beach Florida, where he began his singing career with the Palm Beach Opera. Now based in Chicago, he holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Since moving to the Chicago area, he has become an active recitalist with VOX 3 Collective and the Aestas Consort, and a frequent concert soloist and ensemble member. In past seasons, he has appeared at the Mittelsächsiches Theater of Freiberg Germany as a Young Artist, performed in the American premiere of Carl Nielsen’s Maskarade, and been heard as Zuniga and Dancaïre in a live radio broadcast of Carmen with /kor/ productions. Earlier in 2016, he appeared as Plutone in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo with DePaul Opera Theater. Ian is a roster member of Thompson Street Opera Company, and has appeared in the company’s productions of The Mouse Deer and the Crocodile, Cosmic Ray and the Amazing Chris, Intoxication: America’s Love Affair with Oil, and The Rootabaga Stories. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Voice Performance from DePaul University in Chicago, and this fall will appear as George Jones in DePaul Opera Theater’s production of Kurt Weill’s Street Scene.
