Magaly Cordero

Soprano Magaly Cordero is an active performer in Chicago and the Midwest. Magaly was a Young Artist with the Cedar Rapids Opera Theater where she performed the role of Rapunzel in Into the Woods as well as covered the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Other performances include the role of Princess Zara in Savoyaire’s production of Utopia Limited and  Reina in Chamber Opera Chicago’s performance of Maria La O. Additional highlights include La Musica in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and Feu/Princesse/Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges. She has sung with Chicago’s South Shore Opera Company,  Evanston’s Light Opera Works and Wisconsin’s Music By the Lake festival. Magaly is a professional cantor at various Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago and has helped train fellow cantors.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and a Master’s Degree from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts.  Magaly is a proud performing member of Milwaukee’s MacDowell Club, Chicago’s VOX 3 Collective, and the Chicago Symphony Chorus. Magaly was named a semi-finalist in The American Prize in Voice/ Friedrich and Virginia Schorr competition for Art Song and Oratorio in 2016. www.magalycordero.com
