Soprano Magaly Cordero is enjoying a blossoming career in the Midwest. Ms. Cordero was a Young Artist with the Cedar Rapids Opera Theater where she performed in the ensemble of Donizetti’s Elixir of Love and Rapunzel in Into the Woods. While in Cedar Rapids she also covered the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute. Ms. Cordero has also sung with Evanston's Light Opera Works and Wisconsin's Music By the Lake festival. Other highlights include La Musica in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo and Feu/Princesse/Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges. Ms. Cordero is a native of Orlando, FL. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and her Master’s degree from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. Ms. Cordero will be making her debut with the South Shore Opera Company during their 2009-2010 season.
