Elizabeth_Abowd soprano Elizabeth Abowd is an emerging soprano originally from Toledo, Ohio. She was recently selected to partake in Sherrill Milnes' voice program "The V.O.I.C.Experience" in Orlando, Florida. Recent engagements include a choral tour of Mozart's Requiem in Mazatlan, Mexico with Opera da Corneto, La Contessa d'Almaviva (study cover) in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Amaranta in the U.S. première of Cimarosa's L'infedeltà fedele with Millennium Chamber Players. Elizabeth completed her graduate studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she sang roles including Miss Pinkerton in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, Miriam in Lee Hoiby's The Scarf, and Fiordiligi in scenes from Mozart's Così fan tutte. She holds a Bachelor's degree from DePaul University where she performed Hata in Smetana's The Bartered Bride, Marcellina in a concert version of Le nozze di Figaro, and in the stage ensemble for the U.S. premiere of Philip Glass' opera The Marriages Between Zones Three, Four, and Five. Also at DePaul, she had the opportunity to work closely with renowned faculty members Catherine Malfitano, Ashley Putnam, Neil Rosenshein, and Susanne Mentzer. Elizabeth has regularly received recognition from the annual Chicago Area National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition and was a scholarship recipient from Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts.
